Things not to do: Damage the gate at your boss’s house

KU employee backs into fence at Chancellor's residence

Add this to list of things not to do to your boss.

Kansas University police responded to a call this morning at the home of Chancellor Robert Hemenway, 1532 Lilac Lane, after a KU Facilities Operations employee backed her truck into the home’s iron front gate.

KU Public Safety Captain Schuyler Bailey said the accident, which bent a part of the driveway gate, caused $1,000 of damage.

No citation was issued, and neither Bailey nor facilities employees could say what kind of work was being done at the chancellor’s home.

University spokeswoman Lynn Bretz said, “Accidents happen, and a back channel has informed us that the gate has forgiven the employee.”
