San Diego man behind anti-Morrison calls

Automated telephone calls denouncing Attorney General Paul Morrison have started again.

Several Douglas County residents have reported receiving a prerecorded call that says: “You know, Paul Morrison and Planned Parenthood killed a little boy and covered it up. Now as attorney general, he needs to be arrested. This recorded message is brought to you by fairtrials inamerica.org. That’s fairtrials inamerica.org, not .com.”

The Web site belongs to Conrad J. Braun, of San Diego. Braun blames Morrison for legal troubles that date back to 1989. He also owns a call center in California and has launched several waves of calls against Morrison.

Ashley Anstaett, a spokeswoman for Morrison, denied the calls’ allegations.

“He is one of many criminals Paul put behind bars during his career,” as a Johnson County district attorney, Anstaett said. “After many years, Conrad Braun is clearly still angry with Paul.”

In previous rounds of calls, some have complained that being registered on the state’s Do Not Call list should block the calls.

But Anstaett said that because the caller is not trying to sell a service or product, it is exempt from the No-Call Act.
