Knights of Columbus Council 1372 donated $1,337.60 to St. John Catholic School on Jan. 10. Principal Pat Newton received the donation for the purchase of 20 classroom chairs.

The council also announced recent award winners. Knight of the Month winners were Duane Boor, October; Russell Bailey, November; and Marv Simon, December.

Family of the Month winners were Mike Howe, October; Ed Mullins, November; and Danny Fox, December.

Over the Rainbow Doll Club met Jan. 10 at the home of Doris Ottinger. Members welcomed visitors Jean Lukehart and Lorraine Mulally, shared new doll collection items and New Year’s resolutions. Gail Brewster read the poem “‘Twas the Week After Christmas” and an original Sophie and Ann Estelle story.

Members will provide a short program on Jan. 31 for residents at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, 1429 Kasold Drive. Members will bring dolls and give brief descriptions and information about their collections.

Next month’s meeting will be at the home of Wilma Baruth. Members are to bring their club doll dressed for Valentine’s Day.

The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club’s game was directed by Chris Lane on Jan. 9. The North-South players were led by Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges, followed by Janice Hollowell and Bebe Huxtable at second in A and first in B and C. John Reese and Shirley Reese placed third in A, followed by Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier.

The East-West players were led by Carol Ball and Mona Bell at first in A, B and C, followed by Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld at second in A, B and C. Mark Osborn and Gary Joyce placed third in A, followed by David Piro and Paul Heitzman.

The Thursday Morning Mentor Bridge Club’s game was directed by Lester Dalton on Jan. 10. Winners were Vince Nordberg and Lester Dalton, followed by Eldon Herd and Virginia Hamilton. Jean Khatib and Virginia Seaver placed third, with Barbara McCorkle and V’Anne Desch placing fourth. Don Bush and Gordon Toedman were fifth, with Jan Vaughn and Yvonne Hedges placing sixth.

The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club’s game was directed by Virginia Seaver on Jan. 11. The North-South players were led by Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough, with Harry Shaffer and Grant Sutton placing second in A. Janice Hollowell and Mary Fenlon placed third, with Chris Lane and Carol Ball placing first in B.

The East-West players were led by David Piro and Paul Heitzman, followed by Virginia Seaver and Chuck Hedges. Ginny Johnston and Barbara McCorkle placed third in A and first in B and C, followed by Eldon Herd and Jean Otney at fourth in A and second in B.

The Sunday Afternoon Bridge Club’s game was directed by Chris Lane on Jan. 13. Ed Howard and Manoj Kummini placed first, followed by Adelaide Nyquist and Elle Patton. Shari Krentzel and Adelaide Hanna placed third, and Chris Lane and Bobby Patton came in fourth.

The Monday Evening Bridge Club’s game was directed by Virginia Seaver on Jan. 14.

The North-South players were led by Jeff Nash and Lois Jones, followed by Harry Shaffer and Grant Sutton. James Masilamani and Donna Johnson placed third, with Vince Nordberg and Jim Stewart placing fourth in A and first in B and C.

The East-West players were led by Jerry Sloan and Peter Petillo, with Brandon Humpert and Jeremy Martin placing second in A and first in B and C. Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman placed third in A, with Terry Tolar and Emily Foster at fourth in A and second in B and C.

The University Bridge Club announces winners of its Jan. 12 meeting. Ray and Myrna Ikenberry were hosts.

Blue winners were Paul Jordan, first; John Golden, second; Ray Ikenberry, third; Alice Akin, fourth; and Karmie Galle, fifth.

Pink winners were Darlene Schneider, first; Myrna Ikenberry, second; Cathy Waller, third; Florence McNicoll, fourth; and Edna Galle, fifth.
