Vacant judgeship attracts candidates

Sixteen area attorneys have applied for the Douglas County district judge position vacated by Stephen Six, who was appointed state attorney general.

The 7th Judicial Nominating Commission will meet Feb. 28-29 to nominate two or three people to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for the judgeship.
