Jennifer and Justin Logan, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Jocelyn Lorraine Logan, born Nov. 30, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Her maternal grandparents are Carol and David Hicks, Alpharetta, Ga.

Her paternal grandparents are Terri and Greg Logan, Coffeyville.

Great-grandparents are Louise Colburn, Marion; Jim and Joan Guerra, Platte City, Mo.; Larue and Bill Wilson, South Coffeyville, Okla.; and Jerry and Helen Logan, Coffeyville.

Scott Boring, a Lawrence High School and Kansas University graduate, completed requirements for the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School MBA Fellows Program for the Inaugural Cohort on Nov. 14-15 in Baltimore.

Samridha Kunwar, Lawrence, will graduate with a Master of Science degree in physics from Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn.

Michael Ornburn and Lauren Wright, both of Lawrence, received their white coats during the White Coat Ceremony at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tenn.

Ornburn and Wright are first-year osteopathic medical students at LMU-DCOM.

The White Coat Ceremony is a special ceremony designed to mark a student’s entrance into medical school. During the ceremony, each medical student is presented and “robed” with a white laboratory coat, formalizing the student’s entrance into the study of medicine.

Deborah Williams, Lawrence, Johnson County Community College associate science professor, was selected by peers to receive the 2009 teaching excellence medallions on May 27, 2009, at the annual national conference of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development in Austin, Texas.

NISOD Excellence Awards were established to recognize faculty who epitomize the importance of teaching and leadership excellence in institutions of higher education.
