Registration open for hunter courses

Registration is still open for two coming hunter education courses in Douglas County.

The first course includes two sessions from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday at Building 21 of the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, in the 2100 block of Harper Street, and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Fraternal Order of Police lodge. The instructor will give directions to the lodge the first night of class.

Registration for the Monday class will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. To pass the course, attendance at both sessions is required.

The second course includes a session from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at the fairgrounds and from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the FOP lodge. Again, attendance at both sessions is required.

Lunch will be provided for $2 at the all-day session.

Pre-registration is required because space is limited.

To register, leave a message for Lawrence police Capt. Dan Affalter, 832-3288, or call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, 841-0007.
