Marching bands to toot horns at festival
Marching bands will fill Memorial Stadium on Saturday for the 16th annual Heart of America Marching Festival.
The Kansas University Marching Jayhawks and 19 high school bands from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma will perform, beginning at 3:15 p.m.
Lawrence High School will perform at 7:45 p.m. and Free State High School at 8:30 p.m. The Marching Jayhawks will conclude the event at 9:30 p.m.
The high school bands will be evaluated by a panel of judges, and an awards ceremony will follow the Marching Jayhawks’ performance.
