Washburn to Honor Ex-Lion: Susan Waller Dickerson, a 1989 Lawrence High graduate, will be inducted into Washburn University’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Dickerson played volleyball at WU where she ranks in the Top 10 in several career statistics. Her husband, former WU basketball player Mike Dickerson, will also be inducted into the Ichabods’ shrine Saturday.

Gatten Golf Champ: Gary Gatten shot a sizzling 65 and won Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club weekly net tournament at Alvamar by three strokes over Bud Stagg. Curt Anderson and Brent Mertz shared third place, each with a 72. Coming in at 73 were Pete Whitenight, Mike Stein and Keith Wallace. Stagg had the day’s low gross score, a two-under-par 70.

Mavs Volleyball Trials: Lawrence Mavs, a club volleyball team for girls ages 11-15, will conduct tryouts Nov. 4 at the Robinson Center on the Kansas University campus.
