Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 31, 1907: “Lawrence High School will have a graduating class of 64 this spring, an unusually large class. There are almost twice as many girls as boys in the class. Ceremonies will be at the Opera House. : Lawrence will by no means be a dead town this summer even with the university students gone. A wide variety of special events will be conducted and visitors could be quite numerous, good news to merchants. . . . A planned June bride-to-be in Lawrence had her plans disrupted today when her would-be groom was arrested as a horse thief. The man was driving a stolen team here and was arrested in Iowa.”
