Royals manager Bell has knee surgery

? Kansas City Royals manager Buddy Bell showed up for his pregame news conference Tuesday walking without crutches a day after having arthroscopic knee surgery.

Dr. Steve Joyce, the team physician, performed the operation on Bell’s right knee Monday.

“I’m not going to make any big moves, but I’m fine,” Bell said before Tuesday night’s game against Cleveland.

Bell, who said during the team’s recent road trip that he didn’t have much cartilage left in the knee, said Tuesday he wasn’t sure what Joyce found during Monday’s procedure.

“I talked to him for a while after the surgery, but I wasn’t paying much attention,” Bell said with a laugh.
