Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 14, 1907: “Thieves did a job on the Citizens State Bank of North Topeka Sunday night and when the vault was opened Monday it was found that $10,000 of the $15,000 it contained had been stolen. : Further, potato bugs seem to be hitting fields in Grant Township and every effort is being made to combat them. : The storm last night did considerable wind and lightning damage, starting some small fires. : A drunken man was found lying on the corner of Indiana and Winthrop last night and police were called to help the unconscious man spend the night in jail.”
