LHS baseball closes with win

Aaron Rea hit a two-run home run to break open a close game in the fourth inning, and Lawrence High’s baseball team defeated Shawnee Mission South, 9-3, on Friday at Ice Field.

Dorian Green allowed two runs in five innings to pick up the victory, and Drew Hulse pitched two innings of hitless relief.

“Dorian kind of struggled at the beginning,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said, “but he wound up throwing pretty well.”

Lawrence High fell behind, 3-0, in the third before scoring three runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

The Lions concluded the regular season with a record of 11-8 overall, 7-5 in the Sunflower League. They will compete at Class 6A sub-state either Wednesday or Thursday.
