Old Home Town – 25 years ago

It was a journey 15 years in the making, but Moses – Moses the statue – had finally reached his local promised land on the fringe of the Kansas University campus. Elden Tefft’s highly praised metal sculpture had finally been put in place in front of Smith Hall, home of the department of religious studies at the northeast edge of the KU campus, across from the Memorial Union building.

Local building activity was definitely picking up. Twice as many building permits had been issued during April for single-family houses in Lawrence as had been issued during March. The figure of 34 permits was the highest since the past in September.
