Hearing scheduled for bomb threat suspect

Attorneys Tuesday morning were still waiting to review police reports in the case of a Lawrence man accused of making bomb threats April 19 that prompted evacuations of three area schools.

In a brief court appearance, Jim George, the appointed attorney for Michael E. Parker, 46, agreed to schedule a preliminary hearing for 9:30 a.m. May 22.

George said he had not yet received requested police reports in the case, and Assistant Douglas County District Attorney Angela Wilson said prosecutors also are waiting to examine the reports.

Parker remains in custody on $30,000 bond.

Police arrested Parker on April 19, the same day emergency dispatchers received threatening calls that mentioned schools and a city hall. Thousands of students went home early that day.
