Missing kayaker found in Kansas River

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – A body recovered this week on the Kansas River was that of a missing kayaker who capsized earlier this month, the Wyandotte County coroner’s office said.

A fisherman spotted the body of Ladd Fish, 34, of Edwardsville, about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday near where the father of five had disappeared two weeks earlier.

Fish disappeared March 6 while kayaking with a friend on the river near Interstate 435 when his kayak capsized in the frigid water. Fish’s friend reached the shore, and the empty kayak washed up about 150 yards downstream.

The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department used a rescue boat to assist in pulling Fish’s body from the river.

Coroner Alan Hancock said Fish drowned.
