Former U.N. diplomat to speak at KU

? A diplomat from the mountainous Asian kingdom of Bhutan will visit the Kansas University campus later this month.

Om Pradhan, Bhutan’s former permanent representative to the United Nations, will speak at 12:30 p.m. March 26 at Alderson Auditorium in the Kansas Union.

The visit was arranged by Takao Shibata, former consul general of Japan in Kansas City, Mo., who is KU’s chancellor’s lecturer for this academic year.

“He’ll be talking about Bhutan’s relationship with its biggest neighbor, which is China,” Shibata said. “We thought this would be a good occasion to let people know about this mysterious country in the mountainous region of the Himalayas.”
