Ravens acquire McGahee

Orchard Park, N.Y. – Running back Willis McGahee was traded to the Baltimore Ravens by Buffalo for three draft choices Thursday, a day after Jamal Lewis signed with Cleveland. The Bills will get third- and seventh-round picks this year and a third next year.

McGahee had one year left on his five-year contract with Buffalo, and had been seeking an extension.

Lewis, whose productivity had been declining, was released last week by the Ravens. McGahee will take over as the No. 1, ahead of sparingly used backup Mike Anderson and Musa Smith, who has primarily been used on special teams.

Rams add tight end

St. Louis – Tight end Randy McMichael, who has averaged 65 catches the last three seasons, on Thursday agreed to a three-year contract with the St. Louis Rams. McMichael, released by Miami for cap purposes, brings experience to a position the Rams filled with rookies last season and provides them with a catching tight end.

Seahawks release Wistrom

Seattle – The Seattle Seahawks released fiery defensive end Grant Wistrom on Thursday after three years of struggling to match the big contract he signed in 2004. Wistrom was scheduled to make $3.5 million for the 2007 season.

Report: Broncos add Ramsey

Denver – The Denver Broncos agreed to a two-year contract with veteran backup quarterback Patrick Ramsey, according to a published report. The Denver Post quoted Ramsey’s agent as saying Ramsey, who replaces Jake Plummer as Jay Cutler’s backup, agreed to a deal worth between $4 million to $5 million.

Falcons, Horn agree

Atlanta – The Atlanta Falcons reached an agreement with veteran free-agent receiver Joe Horn, who is expected to play a lead role in new coach Bobby Petrino’s efforts to balance the offense. The 35-year-old Horn missed nine games the last two seasons because of groin and hamstring injuries.
