From the Lawrence Daily World for March 4, 1907: “A ‘farmer’ party at the Fraternal Aid Hall, given by the junior class at the university, was deemed a very successful affair. About 50 couples attended, all dressed in farmer costumes. There were many interesting “originals”. : A shortage of rail cars has resulted in egg shortages due to curtailment of shipments from parts of Kansas and Oklahoma. Some 12 million eggs per month are provided for rail service but there are not currently enough cars to meet the demands for shipping. : An all-day holiday has been on at the university after passage of a nearly $750,000 appropriations bill by the legislature before it adjourned. Students began celebrating Saturday night after news of action earlier in the day and a school meeting was held in the chapel to outline the pleasant details.”
