Officials estimated that Perry, Tuttle Creek and Milford reservoirs had prevented well over $1.5 million in damage in the Lawrence area after recent heavy rains. This was despite the fact that Perry Lake work was not finished and the site could be used only for temporary water storage. The rainfall figure for the year had been about twice the normal, with more than 13 inches already having fallen in June.
