The third annual Jayhawk Float Fly is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Bismarck Lake in North Lawrence. The free event will feature radio-controlled model airplanes taking off and landing on the lake. Visitors should bring lawn chairs or blankets.

To reach the lake, go to the intersection of Lyon and Ninth streets and proceed north on Ninth for about three-quarters of a mile.

¢ University Bridge Club announces the winners of its June 16 meeting. Hosts were Dan and Carolyn Harden with Harold and Donna Riehm. Blue winners were Dale Kring, first; Willie Stoltenberg, second; John Golden, third; Dan Harden and Harold Riehm, fourth; and Walt Hicks, fifth. Pink winners were Carol Smith, first; Carolyn Harden and Donna Riehm, second; Myrna Ikenberry, third; Mary Fleske, fourth; and Wanda Kring, fifth.

¢The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at seven tables directed by Chris Lane on June 6. Elle and Bobby Patton led the North-South pairs winning first in A, B and C. Chuck Hedges and Chris Lane won second in A and B, and Suzanne Wassmer and Wanda Durbin won third in A. Phyllis Brownlee and Virginia Eddy won second in C and third in B.

Virginia Seaver and Shirley Reese won first in A playing East-West, followed by Ed Howard and Jeane Landry, who won second place. David Prio and Grant Sutton won third in A. Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Roszel won first in B and C, and Yvonne Hedges and Carol Ball won second in B.

On June 13, the club played a stratified Mitchell movement at seven tables directed by Chris Lane. The North-South pairs were led by Harry Shaffer and Ed Howard, who took first in A. Yvonne Hedges and Sally Taylor won second place in A and first in B. Wanda Durbin and Suzanne Wassmer took third place in A, and Jolene Andersen and Eleanor Patton placed second in B and first in C.

The East-West winners were led by David Piro and Paul Heitzman, who won first place in A, followed by Jeane Landry and Shirley George. Betty Collier and Shirley Reese won third in A and first in B, and Catherine Blumenfeld and Lois Clark won second in B and first in C.

¢The Thursday Morning Bridge Club played two and a half tables directed by Chris Lane on June 7. Shari Krentzel and Ajit Sampat won first, followed by Marilyn Martin and Chris Lane. Clarice Broz and Ed Howard won third.

On June 14, the gathering was directed by Lester Dalton. Eldon Herd and Pat Lechtenberg tied for first place with Barbara Figgins and Lester Dalton. Grant Sutton and Marilyn Martin took third place.

¢The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at eight tables directed by Virginia Seaver on June 8. Playing North-South, Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough won first in A, and Lois Clark and Harry Shaffer won second. Janice Hollowell and Jean Otney won third in A and first in B and C, followed by Elle and Bobby Patton, who won second in B and C.

Harry Talley and Don Daugherty won overall at East-West, placing first in all three strata. Shirley George and Jeff Nash won second in A and B, followed by Shirley Reese and Yvonne Hedges, who won third in both strata. Lynn Hui and Cathy Blumenfeld won second in C.

On June 15, the club played a stratified Mitchell movement at eight tables directed by Virginia Seaver. The North-South winners were led by Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough, followed by Eldon Herd and Mary Fenlon.

Jeff Nash and Shirley George placed third in A and first in B. Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton placed second in B and first in C, followed by Janice Hollowell and Jean Otney, who won second in C.

The East-West pairs were led by Betty Collier and Lois Clark, followed by Ann Thompson and Catherine Blumenfeld. Third place went to Mona Bell and Madelyn Jenks.

¢ The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at seven tables directed by Virginia Seaver on June 11. Dave Piro and Ed Howard won first in A playing North-South, followed by Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough, who won second, and Clyde Romer and Jeane Landry, who won third. Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee won first in B and C.

At East-West, Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman won first in A. Dianne Childs and Polly Schoning won first in B and second in A, and Greg Hazen and Sam Pierron won second in B and first in C. Elle and Bobby Patton won second in C and third in B.

On June 18, the club played a special North American Pairs qualifying session. The club played a stratified Mitchell movement at nine tables directed by Virginia Seaver. Twelve pairs qualified to compete at the next qualification level.

The North-South pairs featured a tie for first place in A and B by Jerry Sloan and Greg Hazen, with Jeffrey Nash and Jim Stewart. Third place in A and B went to Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough, followed by Terry Tolar and Harry Shaffer. Phyllis Brownlee and Mary Joyce won first place in C.

The East-West winners were Donna Johnson and James Masilamani at first in A, with John Hickey and James Kelley at second in A and first in B. David Piro and Peter Petillo finished third in A. Amit Chakrabarti and Elizabeth Jankord tied for fourth place with Dorothy Netson and Barbara Merriam in A and second place in B. Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton placed second in C.
