J-W staff members win contest awards

Journal-World staff members picked up awards in the National Federation of Press Women’s 2007 Communications Contest.

Mindie Paget, arts editor, won first place for editing of a lifestyle or entertainment section for her work with the Pulse section. She also received second place in page layout and third place for headline writing.

Editorial page editor Ann Gardner won second place for editorial writing.

Christy Little, special sections editor, won third place in the special sections category for her work with the annual KU Edition.

Terry Rombeck, features writer, earned third place in health/fitness writing and religion writing, and honorable mention in features writing.

Rombeck also received third place in the Religion Newswriters Association’s annual writing contest based on five stories written in 2006.
