“River City Weekly” premieres its eighth annual Academy Awards preview show today.

The show celebrates the 79th Academy Awards, which are Feb. 25 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

Taped earlier this month at Liberty Hall, guests include John Tibbetts, associate professor of theater and film at Kansas University and a film critic on Kansas Public Radio, Kansas City Star film critic Loey Lockerby, Lawrence.com film critic Eric Melin, and Jon Niccum, president of the Kansas City Film Critics Circle.

“River City Weekly,” with host Greg Hurd, premieres on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays with replays at 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Fridays, 9 a.m. Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Mondays, and 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
