Marks, Allman lift Kansas baseball

? Senior Kyle Murphy went 2-for-4 with a pair of stolen bases, while sophomore Andy Marks took a shutout into the seventh inning Sunday as Kansas University earned a rubber-game baseball victory against South Dakota State, 4-1, at the Metrodome.

The Jayhawks, who also won a suspended game earlier Sunday morning, moved to 7-1 on the season.

Marks scattered four hits over 61â3 innings Sunday to pick up his second victory of the season. The sophomore southpaw allowed just three base-runners over the first six innings, before Cal Lewis led off the seventh with a solo homer to left field.

In Sunday’s first game, John Allman’s two-run single in the bottom of the eighth lifted Kansas to a 3-2 comeback victory. The suspended contest was completed Sunday morning after the teams had played the first eight innings Saturday morning.

KU will play host to North Dakota State in a three-game series, beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hoglund Ballpark.
