LMH nurse passes certification exam

Kristen Ericson, staff nurse in the IV Therapy Department at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, recently passed the national certification exam for infusion nurses, earning her the Certified Registered Nurse Infusion designation, or CRNI.

Ericson, a registered nurse, has worked at the hospital for more than 10 years, and has been in the health care industry for 20 years.

The CRNI program is the only nationally recognized certification program for infusion nursing. Infusion nurses work in collaboration with specialists to appropriately and safely administer intravenous medications to patients.

The certification exam covers seven different areas of infusion nursing, and also carries an experience requirement.
