Three KU students remain in hospital

Three Kansas University students remained hospitalized Wednesday in Kansas City, Kan., after an accident early Tuesday near campus.

Bob Hallinan, a KU Hospital spokesman, said Daniel Tuttle, Olathe, was listed in serious condition, and Tyler Duncan, Lawrence, and Amber Henke, Downs, were in fair condition.

Lawrence police have said the five people involved in the one-car accident were 18-year-old residents of Oliver Hall. Police have not yet released an accident report.

About 1 a.m. Tuesday, Nicholas Dutoit, Olathe, lost control of the Ford Mustang convertible he was driving south on Naismith Drive, police said in a statement. The car slammed into a tree near 19th Terrace.

Dutoit and a back seat passenger, Christopher Hong, Lawrence, were treated and released Tuesday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Henke and Tuttle, who were ejected from the car, also had been passengers in the back seat. Duncan, who was the front seat passenger, initially was taken to LMH, but then was transferred to KU Hospital.
