Norman, Okla. ? Running back Allen Patrick and tight end Brody Eldridge will be held out of Oklahoma’s scrimmage today because of injuries, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said.

Patrick, who became the starter after Adrian Peterson broke his collarbone last season, has been wearing a protective boot on his right foot after spraining his ankle last week. He also missed the Sooners’ scrimmage last weekend.

Stoops said he didn’t have a timeframe for when Patrick would return other than “when he’s ready.”

“It’ll be next week sometime hopefully,” Stoops said Friday.

Stoops said he wasn’t concerned about Patrick’s availability for the Sept. 1 season opener against North Texas “but you never know.”
