Travis W. Andregg, 17, received the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouting, during a Court of Honor on April 22 at First Methodist Church’s West Campus in Lawrence.

He is a senior at Lawrence High School and the son of Karen and Todd Andregg, Lawrence.

Andregg started Cub Scouts in 1996 as a Bobcat and later joined Troop 55. He earned 24 merit badges and served in various leadership positions in the troop.

He is a warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, an honorary camping society at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. He also has received the rank of Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow. He attended summer camp at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation for five years. He participated in high adventure programs and camps in the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma, Richland Creek Wilderness Area in Arkansas, Indian Caves in Nebraska, and the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

For his Eagle project, Andregg supervised the design and construction of a walking bridge over a creek at the Douglas County law enforcement fitness area.

¢ Boy Scouts and leaders in Troop 55, chartered to Westside Presbyterian Church, were hosts of the Pelathe District’s winter camping event, Glacial Glutes Winter Rendezvous, Feb. 16-18 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. More than 100 people attended.

The weather was cold, snowy and windy, but the sun was shining. Some leaders arrived Friday, and the rest of the troop came on Saturday. Snow had to be cleared before setting up camp.

The Scouts spent the day shooting black powder weapons, throwing tomahawks, knives and spears, practicing archery and building fires using flint and steel.

They also participated in Trader’s Row, which allowed them to practice their bartering skills.

After a brief church service Sunday, the Scouts competed in the events they had practiced earlier.

Scouts attending included Jamie Braden, Jonathon Roberts, Jacob Pfeifer, Patrick Carttar, Newt Heston, Kjell Mullenix, Bryce Baringer and Wyatt Patterson. Adult leaders included Scott Braden, Stephen Roberts, Jim Peterson, Dan Affalter, Grady Walker, George Vogel, Dean Chapman, Tom Volek, Annelee Marsh, Deb Vannicola, Bob Gibler, Craig Walker and Jill Baringer. Affalter and the Washington Creek Muzzleloaders provided supervision and instruction on the firing range.

¢ Cub Scout Pack 3057, chartered to St. John Catholic School PTO, celebrated Scout Sunday on Feb. 11 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Members of other Scouting units also attended.

Cub Scouts who received the Light of Christ religious emblem were John Anderson, Cody Dillon, Noah Funk, Isaac McCracken, Daniel Murray, Liam Rausch, Mark Smith and Austin Lemmons.

August Murphy-Beach, Jack Powell, Kyle Vogelsang and Ivan Davidson received the Parvuli Dei (Children of God) religious emblem.

Flag bearers were Brandon Mailand, Michael Smith, Nathan Shobe, Jacob Pfeifer, Ivan Davidson, Austin Lemmons, Matt Avila, Simon Elwell, Colton Sommer, Isaac McCracken, Brandon Bunting and George Depenbusch.

Servers were Patrick Fay, Steven Howe and Jakob Walter.

Eagle Scout Christopher Neal made the opening announcements. Clayton Pfeifer gave the first reading, and Luke Oberrieder gave the second reading.

Prayers of the faithful were read by Daniel Murray, Kyle Vogelsang, Michael Smith, Ivan Davidson, Brandon Mailand and Michelle Powell. August Murphy-Beach, Mark Smith, Cody Dillon and Austin Lemmons helped with the collection.

Gift bearers were John Anderson, Liam Rausch, Jimmy Cooper, Jack Powell and Matt Avila.

Mass was followed by the Blue and Gold Brunch and Arrow of Light Ceremony. The opening was led by Simon Elwell, Luke Oberrieder, Clayton Pfeifer and Jakob Walter. Luke, Clayton and Jakob earned the Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting’s highest award.

Simon Elwell bridged to Troop 64 and was received by Justin Male, junior assistant scoutmaster.

Luke Oberrieder and Jakob Walter bridged to Troop 59. They were received by Scoutmaster Mark Stogsdill and Scouts Patrick Fay, Carrick Finnegan, Nathan Shobe and Christopher Neal. Clayton Pfeifer bridged to Troop 55 and was received by Commissioner Stephen Roberts, Bryce Baringer, Jonathan Roberts, Jacob Pfeifer and Stephen Howe.

¢ Cub Scout Pack 3052, chartered to Broken Arrow School’s PTA, conducted a campout on April 13-14. Because of rain and cold weather, the event was moved from Hidden Valley to the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Scouts worked on the Leave No Trace award and enjoyed s’mores.

Participating in the campout were Fergus Inbody, Jacob Mills, Reese Stellwagon, Charlie Evans, Alex Hurt, Devin Van Schmus, Kieran Inbody, Andrew Orburn, Ivan Davidson, Anthony Van Schmus and Owen Heffernan.
