Kansan GM, adviser named to state post

Malcolm Gibson, general manager and news adviser for The University Daily Kansan, has been elected to serve a two-year term as president of the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press, the state chapter for the oldest and largest national membership organization for college student journalists.

The Kansas chapter represents advisers and students involved in all student media at more than 30 four- and two-year institutions of higher learning in the state. Gibson’s election came during the chapter’s annual conference April 15-16 in Wichita, which drew nearly 200 advisers and students.

Gibson joined the KU faculty in 1996 after 34 years as a reporter, editor and news executive with several news organizations. He became the Kansan’s general manager and news adviser in December 2001.
