KU licenses RFID technology again

Kansas University’s Information and Telecommunication Technology Center announced Tuesday that it had secured another licensing agreement for its patent-pending technology for radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags.

The agreement allows Starport Technologies LLC, based in Kansas City, Mo., to use the center’s KU-Tag technology in manufacturing RFID tags specifically designed to function at high levels when used on metal containers or items that contain liquid.

The center announced last month that it had worked out a licensing arrangement with Container Technology Inc., of Santa Barbara, Calif.
