Cycling Volunteers: Anyone interested in volunteering at the national collegiate cycling championships in Lawrence is invited to drop in at Sunflower Outdoor and Bike from 4-7:30 p.m. Sunday. Food and drink will be provided by Free State Brewery.

¢Ex-Bulldog Honored: Baldwin High product Katie Martin, a senior at Missouri State University, was named Missouri Valley Conference scholar-athlete of the week. Martin leads MSU’s softball team in batting with a .327 average and carries a 3.93 grade point average in medical technology.

¢Soccer Coach Clinic: The National Soccer Coaches Assn. will stage a Parent as Coach clinic for adults who coach youths ages 5-8 on April 28 at Free State High. For information, contact Jason Pendleton at jpendlet@usd497.org

¢Topeka Race Winners: Lawrence’s Steve Riley and Dee Boeck posted age-group first place finishes in the Run for Your Life 10-Mile on April 7 in Topeka. Stacy Riggins of Lawrence and Wally Brawner of Tonganoxie placed second in their respective age groups.

¢Free State Basketball Camps: Free State High boys and girls basketball camps will be June 4-8 for grades 10-12. A boys camp for grades 3-9 will be May 29-June 1. ¢SJHS Alumni Games: South Junior High will stage alumni basketball games on May 11 – women at 5:30 p.m. and men at 7:30 p.m. These will be the last games played in the SJHS gym with a new school scheduled to open this fall. For information, contact Jay Deiser at jdeiser@usd497.org.

¢Ringel Hole-in-One: Jordan Ringel used a pitching wedge to ace the 100-yard No. 6 hole at the Orchards Golf Course. Witnesses were Trey Kunz and Kellen Brittingham.

¢Farve JGC Champ: Mike Farve carded a 68 and won Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club weekly net tournament at Alvamar. Runners-up, all with 74s, were Bob Cohen, Pete Whitenight, Conrad Roberts and Chris Small. Drew Walters, Brent Mertz and Chad Roesler all had 75s. Roberts posted the low gross with a two-under-par 70.

¢Pastor Point Power: Fr. John Schmeidler, pastor of Lawrence St. John’s Church, had 10 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the Runnin’ Revs’ 63-49 loss to the Serra All-Stars on Monday night at Topeka Hayden High. Br. Jerry Wintz, pastoral associate at St. John’s, did not score, but had several rebounds. The game was a fundraiser for Kansas seminarians.
