Kansas University boasted six former Lawrence High stars on its 1966 varsity football roster: guard Ken Wertzberger, linebacker Ronnie Hopkins, guard Steve Heck, end Bill Trull, flanker Halley Kampschroeder and linebacker Rick Trapp.

Kansas University traffic control stations were beginning their fifth year of operation. While unpopular with many, they had proved to be highly effective in controlling campus traffic in a reasonable manner, officials said.
