Bishop Seabury offering food drive, campout

Bishop Seabury Academy’s student senate will be host to a food drive and campout Thursday to bring attention to poverty and homelessness in Lawrence.

The food drive starts with a volunteer effort by the students from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday in downtown Lawrence.

From 6:30 p.m. Thursday to 7:55 a.m. Friday, students will sleep in boxes at the school. During that time, the public is invited to bring canned and nonperishable food to the event.

At 8:05 a.m. Friday, students will perform skits to emphasize the importance of the food drive. Later that morning, the students will go to the Salvation Army to put away the food collected and serve lunch to the patrons.

The food drive will continue through Nov. 20, with all food going to the Salvation Army and the Trinity Food Bank.
