Flags, turnovers plague Haskell

? It was the same song, different verse for Haskell Indian Nations University’s football team Saturday.

Penalties and turnovers proved fatal as Southwestern Assemblies of God U. pinned the Fightin’ Indians, 24-7, at Lumpkin Stadium.

Haskell (1-7) threw four interceptions and was penalized 10 times for 87 yards, spoiling a solid defensive performance. HINU’s offense manufactured only 183 yards, but that was 17 more than the Lions.

Haskell’s only touchdown came when free safety Terrill Denny recovered a fumble in the SAGU end zone.

Haskell will travel to Peru, Neb., State on Saturday.
