Dykes carries Baldwin to win

Bulldogs slip past Spring Hill, 28-22, in overtime; Perry rolls

? Jared Dykes scored three one-yard touchdown runs to help Baldwin slip past Spring Hill, 28-22 in overtime, in high school football on Friday night.

Dykes, a seldom-used fullback, scored his first TD just before halftime, then tied the score at 22 with a fourth-quarter score. His final TD set the margin.

“It was one of the best wins that we’ve had,” BHS coach Mike Berg said. “The kids kept fighting and fighting. We still have one game to go.”

Sam Beecher scored the Bulldogs’ other touchdown on a four-yard fumble recovery, when Spring Hill’s Dustin Smith lost the ball late in the third quarter.

Smith scored three times for the Broncos. He began the game with a 29-yard touchdown run and then added 20-yard and 25-yard scores.

The Bulldogs (4-4, 1-1 district) will travel Thursday to Eudora. Spring Hill will face De Soto.
