Flu vaccine shipments enable two clinics

The Lawrence Douglas County Health Department has received more shipments of flu vaccine and will have two clinics.

Staff members will administer flu shots from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the health department, 200 Maine. A second clinic be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the health department.

Some clinics were canceled earlier this year because of delayed vaccine shipments.

The flu shots cost $21, but no one will be denied because of inability to pay.

Charlotte Marthaler, policy and planning director for the health department, said the expected snowy weather should not affect the clinics.

“We plan to be here. We don’t close,” Marthaler said.
