Plan for football field, stand to be considered

A plan for construction of a lighted football field and concession stand at 1470 N. 1000 Road will be reviewed Monday by Douglas County commissioners.

Veritas Christian School, which is a non-denominational school at 256 N. Mich., wants the football field and stand built on ground owned by First Church of the Nazarene.

Other items on the commissioners’ agenda are:

¢ Discussion of Internal Revenue Service regulations with respect to cell phones.

¢ Discussion of a cost of living adjustment and the 2007 holidays.

¢ An executive, closed-door session with the county counselor to discuss personnel matters.

The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. on the second floor of the courthouse, 1100 Mass.

Commissioners also will meet from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday with the Lawrence City Commission and the Lawrence-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce to discuss economic development.
