4-H and FCE news

Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering an Old-Fashioned Cookie Exchange at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St. Bring your favorite cookies and a copy of your recipes.

The Vinland Valley 4-H Club met Nov. 6 at Vinland Methodist Church for annual awards and installation of officers.

The meeting began with dinner and parents night, and the club was called to order by Sandy Stone. Roll call was answered by members giving their parents’ names.

Jeanne Emory read the minutes from last month’s meeting. Guests at the meeting were Jerrod Miller, Bryson and Brian Meyer, Alex and Annie Alsup, and Alyssa and Heather Zaman.

Officers installed at the meeting were Amy Stone, president; Bailey Brown, vice president; Misty Emory, recording secretary; Kelly Baker, corresponding secretary; Jennifer Tuley, treasurer; Brittnay George, reporter; Melissa Emory, parliamentarian; Regan Zaremba, song leader; Christopher Brown and Brad Sheilds, recreation leaders; Amanda Miller, historian; Lacey Hunsinger and Connor Nottingham, council representatives.

Next month’s meeting will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 4 beginning at Vintage Park in Baldwin with caroling and a Christmas card exchange.

The group then will move to Vinland Methodist Church for a meeting and cookie exchange.
