Fall harvest wraps up

? Fall harvest is nearly finished throughout Kansas, according to the Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service.

In its weekly crop update, the agency said 98 percent of the corn had been harvested. Also in the bin now was 92 percent of the sorghum and 98 percent of the soybeans. Sunflower harvest was 92 percent finished, and half of the cotton crop has been harvested.

Farmers are now looking toward the 2007 wheat harvest with 98 percent of the wheat now emerged. Livestock is grazing on about 8 percent of it.

The wheat condition was rated as 9 percent excellent, 46 percent good, 38 percent fair, 5 percent poor and 2 percent very poor.
