Owens Flower Shop opened its doors Thursday evening to dozens of customers, clients and friends to celebrate 60 years in business.

And shop co-owner Sharon Reynolds looks forward to marking more milestones in the years to come.

“We’ll have it until we’re at least 106,” Reynolds said with a laugh, perhaps realizing that such longevity would keep her working another five decades or so.

Reynolds and her husband, Bill, bought the shop in 2002 from Carol Randel, who had owned the place with her husband since the early 1970s.

Jim Owens had the place before that, having put his name on an established floral business that he had purchased in early 1946.

The public is invited to share in the celebration by attending a holiday open house, set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the shop, 846 Ind.
