KU motorsports team places fourth in nation

Kansas University’s Jayhawk Motorsports team placed fourth in the national Formula SAE competition May 17-20 in Romeo, Mich.

It was the team’s best finish ever, topping last year’s 12th-place finish.

The eight-member team of KU engineering students designs and builds a formula-style racing car.

Robert Sorem, the team’s faculty adviser, said this year’s automobile was the best-designed car KU students have made.

The competition attracts more than 100 teams from around the world.
