A suspected chain letter making its way through Lawrence may have some people thinking it can be mailed without using a stamp.

Not true, Lawrence Postmaster Judy Raney said.

A few envelopes recently showed up in the Jayhawk Station post office, 1901 W. 31st St., with the words “Guinness Book of World Records” written in the corner where the stamp should be, Raney said.

No matter what’s in the envelope, you still must put a first-class stamp in the proper place on the envelope if you want it delivered, Raney said.
