Sunny, warming into the low 80s

Dry forecast for graduation weekend

Grab a frisbee and head for a park. Lawrence will get warm weather and plenty of sunshine today, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We’re heading up to 83 for a high today,” Schack said.

The average high temperature for this date is 77 degrees. The record high was 91 degrees, set in 1988.

At 7:20 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 47 degrees, the humidity was 82 percent and winds were out of the north-northwest at 5 mph.

The average low temperature for this date is 56 degrees. The record low was 37 degrees, set in 1995.

Winds will be from the west today at 7 to 10 mph, with partly cloudy skies, Schack said.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to 56 degrees by early Friday morning, she said. Friday will be a little warmer than today, with the high climbing to 86 degrees, Schack said.

“We will continue with a few clouds around on Friday,” she said. However, thunderstorms will stay over in Missouri, she said.

The 80s will continue through the weekend, she said

Saturday’s morning low will be 58, with Saturday’s high climbing to 88.

“There’s no rain in the forecast for graduation,” Schack said. But it will be warm.

Sunday’s morning low will be 57 degrees, with the high climbing to 86 degrees late Sunday afternoon, she said.
