Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 14, 1906: “This week will be about the last of the KU baseball games here as schools get ready to lay off for the summer. KU has played 12 games and has been defeated only once. However, an unusually strong Missouri team is due and the game should be a good one. : The new double track system of the Union Pacific Railroad is at least complete and service has begun between Topeka and Kansas City. It is an important development for our area. : The local sheriff now has three suspects in the big Wolfson pawn shop burglary here and questioning has begun. They appear to be professionals.”
