KU softball falls to Aggies, 3-2

? Another bottom-of-the-seventh rally lifted Texas A&M to another Big 12 Conference softball victory over Kansas University.

Sunday at the Aggie Sports Complex, the Aggies plated a single run in the seventh for a 3-2 victory over KU. A day earlier, A&M used a two-run, two-out homer to claim a 2-1 win.

A&M improved to 23-9 overall, 3-0 in the Big 12 with the sweep, while KU fell to 15-1 and 0-2.

Texas A&M scored two in the first, but KU tied it with single runs in the second and third.

In the second, Serena Settlemier singled and scored on Stevie Crisosto’s double.

In the third, Destiny Frankenstein tripled and scored on Settlemier’s single off the top of the left-center wall.

In the bottom of the seventh, Jami Lobpries – Saturday’s seventh-inning heroine – led off with a bunt single. Rocky Spencer singled to left to move Lobpries to second, and Rhonda Smith put both runners in scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. With Holly Ridley at the plate, Kassie Humphreys came in to relieve Settlemier, but Lobpries was able to score on a passed ball on Humphreys’ first pitch.

Settlemier (9-4) struck out five, allowed four hits and walked one through 61â3 innings to take her first loss since Feb. 24.

She also led KU at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Amanda Scarborough (10-3) gave up six hits, walked two and fanned one batter to earn the complete-game victory for A&M.

KU continues its eight-game road stint Tuesday with a doubleheader at UMKC. First pitch is 5 p.m. at Adair Park in Independence, Mo.
