A weekend off to prepare for Subdistrict competition was just what Sunflower Kids wrestlers needed. A successful season, a bit of rest and a little practice was the right combination to produce a strong showing Saturday in Tecumseh at the Subdistrict Championships.

Sunflower Kids Wrestling recorded 32 wins on at the Subdistrict Championships, qualifying 12 wrestlers for the District Championships next weekend in Olathe.

Alan Clothier, Hunter Haralson, Caden Lynch, Caleb Torneden, Levi Flohrschutz, Reece Conklin, Nick Pursel, Josh Hanson, Blake Greenfield, Evan Clothier, Brandon Brown and Lucas Ingraham all medaled on Saturday to advance to the USA Wrestling Kansas District Championships at Mid-America Nazarene University next weekend in Olathe. Bringing home Subdistrict championships for Sunflower were Hunter Haralson, Reece Conklin, Levi Flohrschutz, Nick Pursel, Josh Hanson and Blake Greenfield in their respective weight classes.

Next Saturday’s District Championships will prove to be a challenge, as only the top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the State Championships at the Topeka Expecentre on March 25-26.
