More than 30 volunteers and hundreds of Lawrence school children joined others across the country to celebrate the Read Across America event Thursday.

Lawrence activities, which coincided with the 102nd birthday of Dr. Seuss, were coordinated by the Roger Hill Volunteer Center.

They included reading events at the Boys and Girls Club and at Woodlawn and New York schools.
