An air ambulance was put on standby after a man was shot in northwestern Douglas County this afternoon.

Medical responders arrived at 435 N 2190 Road around 2:30 p.m. today, finding a man who had been shot with a .32 caliber handgun.

Though the man was apparently bleeding heavily, responders on the scene canceled the air ambulance, saying the man’s injuries were not serious enough to require emergency flight to a hospital.

The shooting was thought to be accidental. But details of the incident were not immediately available.
