Boston ? The Boston Red Sox gave Pedro Martinez a warm welcome back while trampling his New York Mets teammates like the rest of the National League.

Mike Lowell and Alex Gonzalez homered to back rookie Jon Lester on Tuesday night, and the Red Sox beat New York, 9-4, for their 10th consecutive victory – all in interleague play. Martinez, who won two Cy Young awards and a World Series in Boston, will try to end his former team’s streak tonight when he starts at Fenway Park for the first time as a visitor.

“It will be a little distracting” to face Martinez, said Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, who greeted Martinez when he visited the Boston clubhouse before the game. “I’ll swing hard just in case I hit the ball.”

Martinez was treated to a highlights video after the first inning, and the fans called him out of the Mets dugout with a standing ovation.

San Diego – Chris Young outdueled Barry Zito, and San Diego ended the Oakland ace’s six-game winning streak. The defending NL West champion Padres leaped over the Los Angeles Dodgers to take over first place in the division.

Rockies 12, Angels 4

Anaheim, Calif. – Garrett Atkins and Clint Barmes each had three RBIs. Brad Hawpe also hit a two-run homer for the Rockies, who tied a season high with 18 hits. The victory snapped Colorado’s seven-game interleague losing streak against the Angels, who had won 12 of the previous 13.

Mariners 11, Diamondbacks 7

Phoenix – Kenji Johjima drove in a career-high five runs with his second two-homer game in as many starts. Johjima hit a two-run shot in the first inning and three-run drive in the ninth.

Indians 3, Cardinals 1

St. Louis – C.C. Sabathia worked eight dominant innings to help Cleveland win consecutive games for the first time since the beginning of June and send St. Louis to its eighth straight loss.

Giants 5, Rangers 3

San Francisco – Matt Morris won three straight starts for the first time this season and improved to 7-0 in interleague play over the last two years. Randy Winn hit a three-run homer in the second inning and doubled and singled twice for the Giants.

Blue Jays 6, Nationals 0

Toronto – A.J. Burnett pitched a shutout in his second start since returning from the disabled list. Burnett (1-1) allowed six hits, struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter in just his fourth start of the season.

Braves 5, Yankees 2

New York – Horacio Ramirez won for the first time in three weeks, allowing eight hits over eight innings. Jeff Francoeur drove in runs with singles in the second and eighth innings, and Adam LaRoche had a solo homer in the seventh for the Braves.

White Sox 4, Pirates 2

Pittsburgh – Mark Buehrle limited Pittsburgh to two runs over seven innings, and Chicago ran Pittsburgh’s record-tying losing streak to 12 games.

Twins 9, Dodgers 2

Minneapolis – Joe Mauer had a career-high five hits, and Francisco Liriano threw seven sharp innings. Liriano allowed two runs and five hits. He struck out eight for the Twins, who have won six straight, 14 of 15 and 16 of 18. They are 12-2 in interleague play.

Detroit – Roger Clemens threw six strong innings before giving up a pair of one-out walks in the seventh, and Detroit made him pay. Craig Monroe hit an RBI double off reliever Dan Wheeler in the three-run seventh, and Nate Robertson threw seven scoreless innings.

Marlins 8, Devil Rays 4

Miami – Miguel Olivo hit two home runs, and Miguel Cabrera added another to help Florida to its eighth consecutive home victory.

Brewers 8, Cubs 5

Chicago – Ryan Dempster and Ronny Cedeno each committed a costly run-scoring error for Chicago, and Milwaukee scored four unearned runs in the ninth. The Cubs have lost nine straight at Wrigley Field.
