CrossWalk America coming to Lawrence

Several members of the CrossWalk America movement will be in Lawrence congregations this Sunday.

Walkers will travel from Phoenix to Washington, D.C., this spring and summer, stopping at congregations along the way to discuss their goals.

Those goals include opening the Christian faith to all people, regardless of race, gender and sexual orientation, among other classifications, and “resisting the commingling of church and state.”

The speakers in Lawrence will include:

  • The Rev. Eric Elnes, senior pastor of Scottsdale Congregational United Church in Scottsdale, Ariz., who will be preaching at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway.
  • The Rev. Brad Wisher, senior pastor of Gentle Shepherd Metropolitan Church in Phoenix, will speak at 9:30 a.m. to the social justice class at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt.
  • Meighan Prichard, educational coordinator and chorale coordinator for the Seattle Symphony, will speak at 9:30 a.m. to Sunday school classes at First Baptist Church, 925 Vt.

First Baptist also will have a potluck dinner and discussion with the CrossWalk participants at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
