Two sentenced in plot to kill drug informant

Two more defendants have been sentenced in connection with an attempted mob-style hit on a drug-informant in North Lawrence.

Former Lawrence resident Pamela R. Tyler was sentenced Tuesday to 60 years in prison after being convicted of helping plot the shooting of Tania Atkins in April 2004 near Seventh and Locust streets. Atkins had helped police build a cocaine-dealing case against Tyler’s boyfriend, Andre R. Ivory.

Atkins was shot in the legs but survived. The man who shot her, Kyle A. Crayton, of Kansas City, Kan., was sentenced Wednesday to 19 years in prison, according to U.S. District Court records.

In all, four people have been sentenced for their role in the shooting, including Ivory, who is serving life in prison, and Chaconie “CC” Edwards, of Lawrence, who received an 84-month sentence. A fifth defendant, Kimberly M. Sanders, of Lawrence, will be sentenced June 9.
